Spring is looking very promising for us and we plan on staying busy for the time being. This coming Saturday, May 4th we’ll be driving up to Fresno to play Fuck It Fest II at The CYC with La Luna(Calgary) and Lord Snow(Chicago) plus a bunch of other Fresno bands. Joining us will be our good friends in La Bella, Stresscase, and Ruptures. If you’re in the area be sure to come out and enjoy the 12+ bands on this fest.

After Fresno our next show planned is scheduled on Saturday, May 11th at The Dial in Murrieta with Creatures, Bone Dance, Globe & Beast, Territory, and Columbian Necktie. We’re opening the show so be sure to come early and say hi. This is a great lineup and is sure to make for a fun Saturday if you happen to be in the area.

Also! Our new EP will be up shortly. We are still getting the artwork and layout figured out. Take care!

Spring 2013

This week we’re heading into the studio once again to record our new EP at The Earth Capital. We’ve been working really hard on this record and feel the new songs are our best ones yet. We’re all pretty excited for this and hope to have at least a few songs, if not the whole record, up on our bandcamp page (leftastrayhc.bandcamp.com) by next week at the latest.

After we record we also have a show coming up this Friday on April 19th at The Dial in Murrieta, CA for a skate video release party for DEVO: 3, also playing is Higher Learning and The Coltranes.

On May 4th we will be going to “Fuckit Fest 2” at The C.A.F.E. Infoshop in Fresno, CA. We’ll be playing with touring bands like Lord Snow from Chicago and La Luna from Canada as well as a bunch of great Fresno bands like Cabin Fire and Tigerlily, and friends Ruptures and Stresscase! Leaving Winter

We’ve been extremely busy the past few months, we’ve been writing new materials and working on some pretty awesome shows coming up including a festival with a ridiculous amount of awesome bands. We’re planning on going into the studio sometime in April and plan to have few of those songs put out either as an EP or a split, everything is still in the air as of now.

Here are a list of shows that we have booked at the moment, maybe we’ll squeeze in a few more in between, but for now here’s what we have:

Hey, we’re playing Outliers’ record release show at The Church on Covina with our friends in Penalty and La Bella. It’s all ages and only $3. We’ll be playing new songs, including our song that will be featured on the Upcoming ToxicBreed comp.

In other news, we’re planning a few shows with Ruptures in March, one of which will be in Las Vegas, which will be our first show out of state. I’ll post more frequently as our calendar starts filling up with shows. See ya tomorrow!

Winter Recording

Hey there, we’ve had a few member changes in the past month or so and with that being the case we’ve been working hard to mix new ideas into our songwriting. We’re going to be recording a few new songs at The Roseland Recording Room in San Diego at with Matt from My Iron Lung. We’ll be in the studio at the end of the month. From one of the songs recorded, one of them will be on the fourth installment of the Toxicbreed’s Funhouse Compilations! We are very excited for this opportunity, so keep a look out this winter for some new music from us and a brand new Toxicbreed Comp!

Our show with State Faults and Love American went great, both bands we amazing. It was sad to see Love American go, but they promised to release a new LP by the end of the year so stay on the lookout for that. State Faults they played a flawless set and had such a moving energy to them. It was our first time at The Dial and everyone working there was more than helpful to us. We need to take care of spaces like this and make sure that they are around for a long time. Thanks to Zach Navis for booking us on this awesome show!

As for our weekend tour with Outliers, we had to cancel since both our Friday and Sunday shows both fell through. As frustrating as it is, we’re trying to see this in a different light and hopefully we’ll be able to hit the road with them in the near future. We’re still playing with Outliers on Friday, October 5th @ The Covina Church with Ruptures and State Faults!

Some good news to add! Amidst the cancellation of the weekend tour and the itch to still play shows, we’ve been added to the Troubled Coast/My Iron Lung show @The Dial with Motherboy and The Coltranes for Monday, October 1st. I’ll post the flier and more info soon as I get more details for the show.

"Mini-Tour" Recap

So we’re back after a long weekend of playing shows and all things punk, hardcore, and DIY. I just got home from dropping off Tyler and Alex, and I’m exhausted.

Originally we planned on doing a 4 day weekend tour going up and down California starting in Pomona/Friday, Sacramento/Saturday, Santa Cruz/Sunday, and Corona/Monday. As this was planned in only about 3 weeks or less we had some difficulty with booking our Pomona and Sacramento shows so they fell through. Though we were bummed out a bit, it may have been for the best since Ivan and Tyler were very sick with fucked up throats and the coughs that sounded like the dying elderly. Eventually Alex got that cough as well, so that made me the only person in the van to be relatively free of sickness(fuck yes), BUT it backfired on me and I ended up driving for more than 10 hours.

On Saturday we packed up all our gear and decided and made sure we had everything we needed. We woke up around 7:00am at Ivan’s house and picked up Tyler soon after. We started our drive to Santa Cruz at about 10:00am and arrived later at about 4:30pm. We met with our friend Chris Coria who booked us for the show that night showed us around Santa Cruz. He introduced us to his friend Gary Alvarez who books shows at The Maxx House, which was once a restaurant that has been turned into a co-op. Our show was originally supposed to be there but was later changed to The Witch House. This place was awesome, it was a small house that had it’s shows in a room no bigger than 12x12ft with people squeezed in as tight as possible. The intensity for the show and the whole night was great. We fed off the energy the crowd had and vice-versa. We stayed to see Stressors who are this awesome super fast hardcore punk band from San Ramon, CA. It was a real treat to see them play. After the show was done we stayed for a bit to talk with some of the locals and the other bands that played. Chris and Garey offered us to stay at their places for the night but we decided that we would ride on the adrenaline rush and head back. Overall we were well received and we will definitely be coming back…………..To cut through the shit: I started the drive home and drove for another 5 hours, the 101 freeway, fog, drowsiness followed by swerving, seeing faces in the fog, I almost went insane.

We got back to Ivan’s house at 6:00am and slept until 1:00pm. Spent the whole day sitting on the couch and rambling about stupid shit. Nothing worthwhile happened prior to show. We pretty much lounged around until we had to leave. We got to Maya’s Cafe and helped set up the place for the show. The bands started showing up and some people came in as well. For a Monday night there was a decent sized crowd present, it was way more than I originally expected. It was great to play a show with so many of our friends. Ferment was up first, this was their first show and I’ve never heard them prior to the show so I was excited to see what they brought to the table. The played an awesome powerviolence set that really exceeded my expectations and I really hope they get on more shows in the future. Spring Break 95’ played second and was such a fun band blending in some surf riffs and powerviolence jams all in one. After them was Sleep Alone, who played a great mix of hardcore punk with very heavy Rites Of Spring/Fugazi influences. Our set went well and this time I managed to not hit someone in the face with my bass on accident. Headwind was on after us. A powerful fast hardcore band that played with barely any breaks in between, a real solid group. And finally La Bella played. They are probably one of the most unique and original bands in hardcore in my opinion. A bold Latin influence blends itself seamlessly with their hardcore punk roots at the core. Every band was awesome and the show went great, we were able to get some money to Maya’s Cafe and made some new friends in the process.

All in all we had a great time, and though it may not have been a “tour” it was enough for us to get a taste of what it will be like when we hit the road again in December for our Winter tour. I’m excited for the winter and all the things touring will include: the stress, the drives, the arguments, the shows, freestlye rapping, and meeting new people. In the meantime, we’re still saving up to press the EP on 7” and we have a few shows coming in the near future.

We’re on our 6 hour drive to Santa Cruz for our “mini-tour”/weekend trip. Our friend Chris has set up the show for us at The Witch House, a small spot that has been a stop for touring bands on California. We’re playing with Permanent Ruin and Stressors so it’s bound to be a fun show.
Tomorrow (8-20-12) will be our show in Corona with La Bella and Headwind. When we’re back home I’ll post more details about our trip and a few upcoming shows we have up our sleeves.
